![]() | ![]() ![]() Quality measurement The identification of efficient healthcare requires insight into the price, volume and quality of care. In the Netherlands, quality is measured using care-related indicators and patient experiences via the CQ-Index questionnaire. SiRM earned their accreditation from the Dutch Centre for Consumer Experience in Health Care (CKZ). This is the highest level of accreditation (A+) which means that SiRM has the skills to compare health care providers using statistical multilevel methods. While quality information has significantly improved over the past few years, we are still a long way from valid and reliable information. SiRM supports the VWS (Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports) Health Care Transparency Programme (Zichtbare Zorg) in ensuring that indicators are comparable (standardized) and reliable. Performance, good or bad, is often difficult to understand and influence for health care providers. The path to good performance starts with a sound understanding of performance measurement and the data on which it is based. SiRM can clarify how care at patient level results in performance at organizational level. Insurers and healthcare offices increasingly use quality information in order to purchase healthcare. When quality information is insufficient, contract theory can help in setting up performance contracts. For instance, a healthcare buyer can offer a variety of performance contracts from which the care providers can choose. High quality care providers will choose other contracts than lower quality care providers. As a result, the care purchaser will gain insight into quality differences. SiRM advises care buyers on setting up performance contracts and interpreting the choices made by providers. | ![]() |
