Pieter Kolstee
Pieter combines his knowledge of energy markets, energy infrastructure, and European and national regulation with clear, insightfull analyses. With enthusiasm, he delivers strategic and solution-oriented advice that contributes to accelerating the energy transition
After completing his Bachelor's degree in Science and Innovation Management at Utrecht University, Pieter continued his studies with a Master's in International Affairs at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin. In 2020, he started as a data trainee at the Dutch national government, followed by a position at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy in 2022. There, Pieter focused on shaping policy, regulation, and strategy for the electricity market in both the Netherlands and Europe. He frequently collaborated with market players, grid operators, regulators and (European) governmental institutions. This has given him in-depth knowledge of the technical, financial, and political dimensions of the electricity system. In 2024 and 2025, Pieter was part of the core team that authored the report for the Interdepartmental Policy Review on the funding of electricity infrastructure.
Since November 2025, Pieter has been working at SiRM, where he applies his experience and expertise to provide strategic and solution-oriented advice on energy markets, infrastructure, and their regulation.
