Robert Hensgens
Robert has nearly twenty years of experience in various energy markets. With an economic background, he focuses primarily on market organisation issues, the policy and strategy questions that arise when the government and the market collide. Robert is keen to put his economics and strategy skills to use to help realise the energy transition.
Robert obtained a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Amsterdam (cum laude) and a Master's degree in Philosophy from the London School of Economics. After completing his studies, he joined the Economic Policy department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (AEP). There, he learned the ins and outs of market regulation in regulated markets. Robert then worked for several years as a regulatory affairs advisor at energy company Vattenfall, where he really got to know the energy markets.
In 2014, Robert moved to PwC's advisory team, where in recent years he was jointly responsible for the climate and economics practice within Strategy&. Here he developed his love for the consulting profession and the associated skills. Robert is both independent and critical as well as tactful and empathetic.
Robert has worked on policy and strategy issues in numerous regulated sectors: public rail transport, healthcare, gambling, postal and parcel services, and telecommunications. However, against the backdrop of climate change and the widespread need for sustainability, he sees contributing to the realisation of the energy transition as his primary professional mission.
